The Lord is our leader

12/8/11                                                                            Psalm 23

Scripture: Psalm 23:1-6 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even through I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Observation:  This Psalm is simple, the Lord is my shepherd or leader and I shall not be in want. Which means that you will always be in need of things: food, water, rest, air, etc. The Lord makes us lie down when we are tired. Leads us to waters, when thirsty and restores our soul. He guides us in paths of righteousness for him. Through we may walk through the valley of the the shadow of death, we should fear no evil, for the Lord is always with us. His rod and his staff (the angels) they comfort us. As he prepares a table for us in the presence of the enemies, he will anoint our heads with oil and it will overflow. This should follow us all the days of our lives and we will dwell in His house forever.

Application: This is for calmness when we are pierced with anxiety, because we know that we are not facing this anxiety alone, for God is ALWAYS with us. God and his angels will comfort us in need and we will dwell in his house forever. Because the goodness and love that we give to others and that we show Gods love for them. He gives us all that we need, when we need it most.

Prayer: Thank you God for always being with us, to comfort us in need and to give us calm in the fears that we possess. I am glad that I have been chosen to serve in your house for you and that the other angels will comfort me, when I am new on the block just like I will do to the next one who comes home to God. we thank you for not fear evil when you are with us. Because you are always with us. In your name, Amen

Eternal life

12/7/11                                                                             John 10:22-42

Scripture: John 10:27-30,37&38 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my father's hand. I and the Father are one. Do not believe me unless I do what my Father does. But if I do it, even through you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.

Observation: This is Jesus speaking to the Jews. The Jews do not believe that Jesus is the savior that they know about, but Jesus tells them that his sheep (his believers) listen to his voice. He knows each and everyone of them and they (the followers) follow him. In return for following Jesus, he gives the sheep eternal life and they shall never perish. Nobody can snatch them out of his hand nor the Father's hands (God). Because God is greater then all and Jesus and God are one. Jesus asks the Jews to believe him. But they are questioning him big time, then Jesus asks them to believe in the miracles and that they know and understand that the Father and Jesus are one.

Application: I know what you are saying, why is this marked for December 7, when today is December 8th? There is good reasoning for it. Yesterday was the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Which we the United States was dragged into the second world war by the Japanese. I felt that it was my duty and obligation to go onto a silence in remembrance of that day. My grandmother, when I was little, would tell me stories of her youth and through these stories as I have remembered them through the years, I have realized that those young people back then (our grandparents) where apart of the greatest generation. Because after the bombing America knew of nothing but defeat, because of the surprise attack, yet they would not be held back from defending their freedom, which would be eventually passed down to us, read the history books (you will find more information). But anyway my grandmother who was born in September of 1925 was 16 years old when Pearl Harbor happened. The day afterward, she had quit High School (she was a Junior) and went to work for the war effort. Sadly, my grandmother never did graduate from high school. Think about it our grandparents and for some our great grandparents, when they were young as we are now were hero's. Just like what I believe we will be to our future grandchildren someday. But you have to think that back in those early days they were scared, just like we are today, but still we persevered just like they did. and we know that God will give us eternal life and we will never perish, because we can't be snatched out of his hands. Sometimes life is rough, but you also have to persevered and march through, because God will have something better: eternal life. Believe in the miracles that Jesus did and that God provides because the Father and the Son are one.

Prayer: Oh Mighty Father, Thank you for giving us the greatest generation, thank you for letting them persevere through there challenges so that the freedom that we Cherish today would remain.  Thank you for all of the stories, that my grandmother gave me in her years of life because they have taught me that through the trails that I will face that I will overcome and I know that I will do that through your blood and salvation on the cross. We thank you for the might of our military (although many of the greatest generation, have gone to be with God) we know that they are in with you for eternal life, just like we will be someday. And we thank you for our strength and courage because its not by might but sheer will through you that we face our everyday fears. In your name, Amen.

There is something magical about God

12/6/11                                                                             Psalm 27

Scripture: Psalm 27:4&5,8&9,11,13&14 One thing I ask of the Lord, This is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" your face, Lord, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me of forsake me, O God my Savior. Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Observation: What this passage is about is the one thing we ask of God. that we may dwell in the house of the Lord HIS House all the days of our life. To gaze upon HIS beauty and to seek him in HIS temple. Because we know that when we face trouble he will keep us safe in his dwelling. Our hearts are always saying to us seek his face. The face of the Lord, We ask that He will not hide is face and not to turn your servant away because he is angry. The last 2 verses is a prayer: to Teach us in his way, to lead us in a straight path. We will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living and we are to WAIT for the lord, yet be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

Application: What we need to do is to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living and to wait for him. Do not take each day for granted because you don't know when you will wake up in line for the gates of heaven. But also to be a blessing upon others that are less fortunate then yourselves. But we ask that we can stay in his house and to gaze upon his beauty, because his house is more glorious then all of ours put together as well as his beauty is more beautiful then all of people put together. There is something magical about him, because he is God. Its hard to describe, which is why not many people come back to tell us what heaven is about. Its almost like a surprise to us. He is the most perfect perfect person, because he is God.

Prayer: Oh Lord God Teach me your ways that you have asked for us to have. Lead us in a straight path, even those that have fallen off the beaten path and wish to come and know you. Let us all wait for you and be strong and take heart while we are waiting. We ask that you keep us in line for you, to be your servants and seek you in your temple. For it is in you that we either live for you or die not knowing you. Amen.

sacrifices and offerings = the desires of your heart

12/5/11                                                                             Psalm 20

Scripture: Psalm 20:1-5,8&9 May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. May  he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. O Lord, save the king! answer us when we call.

Observation: The psalm is about the good things that the Lord will do for you, such as answering your calls when in distress and let the God of Jacob protect you, when you might stumble and fall. May the Lord send you help from the sanctuary and grant support from Zion. remember all your sacrifices and accept your offerings and give you the desires of your heart and make your plans succeed. May the Lord grant all your requests so that we can rise up and stand firm.

Application: The relationship that we have with God is give and take. It seems that we ask for everything under the sun yet God knows when to make you stumble and fall, so that you can rise up and stand firm. The key is to help the Lord grant others there requests. We need to make sure that we sacrifice and pray that he will accept our offerings so that the desires of our heart will be granted. We need to help our fellow man, by being there for them, prayer, help with housework, school work, taking the kids to give them a break, ETC. I think that you get the idea. We are asking God to remember all of our sacrifices and accept the burnt offerings so that the Lord will answer us when we call.  Maybe this week you need to stop hitting the snooze button on the alarm clock so that you can be in prayer with God or to help out your fellow man.

Prayer: Oh Lord God, help us in our ways, let us be there for our fellow man to help them with the desires of their hearts that we will sacrifice for our self. Please let us think of those that are unfortunate at this time of the year, because of loss of job, loss of hope, loss of future. We ask you to remember our sacrifices and accept the offerings that we give to you, so that you will answer us when we call on your name. For only great things can be done through you. Amen.

Love

12/4/11                                                                            Song of Songs 2

Scripture: Song of Songs 2:6-7,9-10  His left arm is under my head, and his right arm embraces me. Daughter of Jerusalem, I charge you by the gazelles and by the does of the field. Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires. My love is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice. My Love spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one and come with me."

Observation: What this scripture is about is instruction of us young women. That is do not awaken love until it so desires. In other words do not force love on others, when others can not simply return the love that you have thrown on you, because they don't feel that same love.  Love will speak to you when it has gathered its patience and will be there for you, when he is ready to be there for you. His left arm is to protect you from harm and his right arm is to embrace you with love. So that you will not feel lonely for the rest of your days on this planet.

Application: I think that this is probably the hardest one for myself to learn from. Because I do not find myself in an attracting way. Sure I have big personality but I am also sweet, kind and compassionate soul that it seems that I am ready to explore my sensuality. Sometimes I feel that my big personality gets in the way of being sweet, kind and compassionate to others and it just does not seem fair to me or to others (particularly those of the opposite sex) because they do not see the sensitive sides of myself because of my big personality. I think that I need to learn to be patient. But how, time it seems is ticking away, I find that many of my friends at this stage of their lives are getting married and getting ready for the opportunities of children in the near future. But WHEN IS IT MY TURN?? I wish that I knew, But I know that God has the prefect person in mind to be my prince, but how will I know when or if I have found him.

Prayer: Oh Lord, life at times seems so unfair. But I ask you to keep in mind what you have for me for a husband, for a friend, for a lover. I know that no one person deserves to be alone. But I ask you to help me find the person for me. Just a note as to lead me for you have been faithful thus far on the journey and I ask you to be ever more faithful in helping him move along to find my love desirable to him. In your name, Amen.

TRUST in GOD

12/3/11                                                                                Psalm 12

Scripture: Psalm 12:2-5 Everyone lies to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue that says, "we will triumph with our tongues; we own our lips- who is our master?" "Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the Lord. "I will protect them from those who malign them."

Observation: The psalm is about people that think that we own and control our own tongues and lips and therefore we can speak with deception. However, God has a different plan, to cut off all the flattering lips and every boastful tongue that is being boastful to everyone and anything else BUT HIM. The Lord will arise because the oppression and the the groaning of the weak and needy is starting to become something of a bother to him, and he is coming to protect those that are weak and needy from those who use their boastful tongue to hurt those that come to God.

Application: I think that the application would be to again be boastful, but boastful in the Lord. For he is the one who will protect you and never leave your side. He can see everything that is coming at you from all sides and he wants you protected so that you don't turn into one of them that thinks they can be boastful of themselves. The Key is you have to TRUST in GOD that he will always protect you from everyone who wants to harm you.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for protecting me and showing your light for me to see. I hope that I am being boastful to you, because I am trusting in you God to show me what you are about and how to live a life more dedicated to you, Lord. For it is within you we are given an eternal everlasting life. In your Sons name, Amen.

Trust the Lord and Cling onto him

12/2/11                                                                              Psalm 11

Scripture: Psalm 11:3-6 When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do? The Lord is in his holy temple the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them. The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates. On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur, a scorching wind will be their lot.

Observations: The passage is talking about what the righteous can do when the foundations of their world are being shaken and destroyed and the answer is not to fall in sinful ways but to know that the Lord is in his temple and he is on his throne. The Lord observes the people and examines the righteous, however in the end those souls that are of wicked statue and who love violence the Lord HATES with a passion. Those people will pay dearly in the end with the rain of fiery coals and burning sulfur and a scorching wind that will blow these things onto him.

Application: The application is for us the righteous people to cling onto the Lord, for the Lord will always push us through the valley of the storms of wickedness. But those that are in love with evil and will lie, cheat and steal to get what they want well they will face a Lord that Hates them and they will know what true hate is. But the passage is simple Trust the Lord and cling onto him, or Do not trust in the Lord and have the Lord throw fiery coals and burning sulfur at you.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for giving me someone to cling onto, you are a person with great strength, Show us that you will never let go. But also show those that are not trusting to you, that you are a trusted person, so that they will get to know you as a father, and a person. Amen.
